Cuts in care homes funding hits district nurses
Pressure on district nurses is increasing because fewer people are being looked after in care homes, according to a leading care homes expert. A report by the NHS Information Centre, Community Care Statistics 2008, showed the number of people living in residential or nursing care homes dropped by 4% to 239,100 between 2007 and 2008. Frank Ursell, Registered Nursing Home Association chief executive, said government drives to reduce local authority funded placements was forcing those in need into sheltered accommodation.'The impact will be felt by district nursing which is already oversubscribed,' he said.

A new post has commenced in Norfolk for an elderly lady suffering with Parkinson’s Disease. Care Manager is Sarah on 01603 281915. Weekly salary £587.00 inc.
Able Community Care provides long term, continuous, live-in care packages for clients. This can be demonstrated by the fact that last month one of our clients died. He had been diagnosed with Charcot Marie Tooth Disease and we began to care for him in March 2002. He has had continuous cover from our carers since that date. He died age 62 in his own home.
Interesting Information
The number of complaints to the NHS in Wales in the year 2007/8 was just over 7000. In 2006/7 the number was 6,346An estimated 74% of people living in UK care homes today have some form of dementia.
