Headways campaign to make it compulsory for children to wear helmets whilst cycling has been backed by the association of Paediatric Emergency Medicine who are also calling for a compulsory law.
Recently the figures released have shown an increase in the number of cyclists killed or seriously injured on the roads. Between April and June this year the number of cycle and serious injury deaths totalled 820 a rise of 19% on the same period in 2008.
Baroness Young, Head of the Quality Care Council will step down from her post in February, her replacement will be advised at a later date. Meanwhile Dame Jo Williams, former CE of Mencap will take charge.
The QCC has recently come in for much criticism from across both health and the social care sector and the re-organised CSCI does seem to have its problems. For example, Able Community Care's Inspection Team for many years was based in Norwich and we were able to contact them or other office staff at any time. Then we were advised that our contact point would be Cambridgeshire, then it would be in Newcastle. Recently on contacting Newcastle we were re-routed to Nottinghamshire which is where we actually find our Inspector is home based from.

Prospective clients have been visited in Bedfordshire and Suffolk.2 "in house" sessions of MH training have taken place.
A team meeting and a client care review have taken place in Kent.
