Care NewsThe majority of people with dementia leave hospital in a worse state than when they went in and a third go on to a care home, unable to return home, according to new research from the Alzheimer's Society. The research, involving 2,400 people connected with dementia care, reveals that people with dementia are staying longer in hospital than other patients and often receive less than adequate care.
The Alzheimer's Society is calling for all hospitals to reduce the average length of stay for a person with dementia by at least a week. The charity is also supporting calls from nurses to be equipped with the right training and tools to do the job. The free personal care bill (England) announced in the latter part of this year is being criticised by the Conservatives on the grounds that :
