This is the amount that the Government feels is an appropriate amount for publicly funded residents to have to spend for their personal use. e.g birthday/Christmas presents, personal toiletries, clothing, trips out, stamps, etc.Age Concern have made the following comment; "This is not enough to pay for the level of dignity or the standard of living older people in care homes deserve." Age Concern suggest that a fairer figure would be in the region of £40.00pw. CSCI have published a list of information that care home providers must publish in their service users guide. It includes:
