Alternatively, they can subscribe directly for their own copy each week from our website: http://www.uk-care.com Care NewsThe social worker who did not disclose full details of a criminal record when applying for Registration to the General Social Care Council (mentioned in last week's Newsflash) was given a Caution for failing to do so. The convictions which were not disclosed related to convictions from approx. 30 years ago and included convictions for theft and criminal damage.The caution will remain on the social worker's record for two years. The Salvation Army only has one nursing home in the UK, situated in Lanarkshire. The home has 32 residents and employs 50 staff. This is now to close because the charity cannot afford to pay £200.00 per week for each patient on top of the contributions it receives from the Scottish Executive. Catholic Care, the charitable organisation working in the Diocese of Leeds has appointed a new chief executive. Mark Wiggin will take up his appointment in September. Catholic Care operates throughout Yorkshire and employs more than 150 people. Their care services help children, adults with learning difficulties, elderly people and they run supported housing schemes for people with a long-term mental illness. In-House NewsPotential carers - This week we have received application forms from 3 carers with NVQ 2, 3 carers with NVQ 3 and from 3 nurses.Interviews of prospective carers have taken place in Bath and Norwich. Potential new client posts have been visited in South Wales, Sunderland and Twickenham. Reviews/meetings have taken place in Hertfordshire, Berkshire and Cornwall. Respite care posts have come in for cover in Yorkshire and Scotland. Salaries £450 and £590.00 respectively. Interesting StatisticsCurrently the cost of staying in a nursing home is upwards of £25,000 per year. Fees are increasing 8% a year on average.
Job vacancy information - Current posts are being offered in the South East for Home Care Workers with experience of domiciliary care work with people with mental health problems. Hourly rates are up to £7.00 per hour and up to £8.40 per hour for evenings and weekends. Similar posts in the Manchester area start at £5.80 per hour.
