|
March 2005 Recent Age Concern survey reveals that one in five people over the age of sixty five years spend over 12 hours a day alone. There are over 3.5 million pensioners in the UK, many of whom seldonm receive a visitor or have opportunities to leave their home. Tesco Supermarkets have named Age Concern as their charity of 2005. The supermarket will raise money for Age Concern to help in setting up local befriending schemes for isolated older people. It costs £15,000 to set up a befriending scheme and Tesco's hope to raise approx. £2million to support these Age Concern projects. Regards, Able Community Care...
