Care News

Commission for Social Care Inspection
Millions of people in England will soon have a better way of judging the quality of care services they or their relatives and friends rely on.

New ratings (1-4) for all 28,000 care providers in England will let the public see easily whether care providers are excellent, good, adequate or poor.

The public is now being consulted on the details of how the new system will work. The consultation lasts for three months, and closes on 14 November 2006.

Ratings will be given to care homes from mid 2007.

If you would like to give your views on this suggested rating system, visit the CSCI website for further details.

From The Telegraph newspaper 18th August.

"The Home Office was accused last night of ignoring tip-offs about illegal migrants working in the black economy.

Employment agencies said they had told The Immigration Service of people with false papers but it took no action"

Able Community Care has on occasions contacted The Immigration Service and found there was no interest in the information offered.

Interesting Information

Times change
In the eighties and nineties when the old style Council Home Helps were the main community carers, if you had to contribute to their cost, you bought a stamp at the post office and stuck it on the bottom of the appropriate form for your Home Help to take back to the Council.

If you have to pay for your Domiciliary Carer in 2006 the ways to pay are numerous. You can:

  • Pay for your care in person
  • Pay for your care by post
  • Pay for your care by telephone banking
  • Pay for your care online
  • Pay for your care by telephone (24 hours a day)
  • Pay for your care by standing order
  • Pay for your care by Customer Payment Cards
  • Pay for your care by Direct Debit.

We hope you have enjoyed reading this and "see you next week".

Best Wishes,
Angela Gifford, Proprietor
