About Us At Able Community Care
The History of Able Community Care
Able Community Care's beginnings were as a partnership called 'Able Domestic Employment Agency' which was formed in September 1980 by Angela Gifford and one other partner. Angela's previous experience was of providing care in a personal capacity.Able Domestic Employment Agency's objective was to provide long term care at home as an alternative to residential care for people with high dependency needs. Therefore, they devised a continuous, long term, live in Housekeeper/Carer scheme. In 1981 the first long term, live-in care scheme began and the cover was provided without a break in service for 4 years until the person concerned died. Since then, live in care has continued to be provided by Able throughout the United Kingdom for people who wish to remain in their own homes. In 1989 Angela was a founder member of the UKHCA (United Kingdom Home Care Association) and was an Executive Member for 11 years. In 1990, the 'Able Domestic Employment Agency' partnership was dissolved and Angela became a sole trader of Able Community Care. Able Community Care's Operation Today
At present, Able Community Care provides between two and three million hours of care each year. We care for people in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands, looking after our clients for many years without a break in service. Our rotational live-in care system gives people who have high dependency care needs (or indeed low dependency needs such as companionship), a one to one live in care service in their own homes thereby eliminating the need for them to move into residential home accomodation. Personal assessment, evaluating cost, care monitoring, quality of service monitoring, risk assessment and reviews are all part of the care package.
