Helping Elderly And Disabled People Change To Digital TV - The Digital Switchover
The Digital Switchover Help Scheme is run by the BBC under an agreement with the Government, to help elderly and disabled people make the change to digital TV and decide which of the option features and benefits they would like.
The eligibility for help is anyone who;
is aged 75 or over or;
has lived in a care home for six months or more, or;
gets (or could get) certain disability benefits, or;
is registered blind or partially sighted.
All people who are eligible should have been contacted by the Digital Switchover Help Scheme but may not have done anything about it.
If you know of a person who has any of the above eligibility criteria, check to see if they have done anything about getting all their TV sets changed to digital TV.
The Digital Switchover Help Scheme telephone number is free and is 0800 408 5907. If they would prefer someone else to make the call on their behalf this is acceptable.
Failure to make the change to digital TV will mean that in the near future people who may rely on their TV will find themselves left without it.
