Live-in home care in Dorset for elderly people can be a realistic alternative which should not be overlooked if you're searching for residential homes for the elderly in Dorset.

Many people retire to Dorset from the Greater London area and it may be as a result of this that the County has two of the UK's older population areas. Christchurch is in fourth place in the age related study followed by East Dorset in fifth place. (The current population of Dorset is just over 700,000).

As a result of the high numbers of older people in the area there are 336 Residential Homes in the County with the largest number of 113 being in Bournemouth followed closely behind by Poole which has 45.

Many older people and their families believe that when they are no longer able to care for themselves, perhaps on a domestic or personal basis, or both, that the next step is to sell the family home and move the older person into a residential care home.

This is not the only choice however. Since 1980, thousands of elderly people have used the services of Able Community Care and enjoyed the long term, live-in care service that we provide in England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands. It is not unusual for Able Community Care to provide in excess of ten years continuous, live-in care cover for our clients enabling them to stay in their home and to remain as independent as is possible and safe from risk.

Our clients come to us from recommendation, from Social Services, from the NHS and many voluntary bodies which support elderly people. We receive regular feedback from our clients and their families and below are some of the comments received in 2009.

The following feedback is from our clients in the south west of England to whom Able Community Care provides a live-in care service:

  • "I like being able to stay in my own home. The standard of care is very good and I enjoy going out in the car as I cannot walk far now. The present carer is a particularly good cook."
  • "My mother enjoys having company and the security of knowing that there's someone there all the time."
  • "The care service is reliable, appropriate and the care is of a high standard."
