The majority of people being cared for in their home are cared for by relatives; husbands, wives, sons and daughters, who freely give up their time, many their jobs to care for their loved ones.
When caring for a loved one it is often a situation where the carer juggles time every day to not only provide hands on care to one person or even two, but the care they also need to give to other family members, to their own home and work situation. Caring for a loved one is second nature but can be tiring, debilitating and eventually can have a negative effect on an informal carer's health.
Carers who continually care without having a break to make time for their own needs will become tired, tense, their own health will suffer and their ability to care as they would wish is likely to diminish.
Sometimes a week away can make all the difference. To have a break is to revitalize, to relax, recharge personal batteries and enables a person to come back to the role of carer refreshed and both the carer and the cared for benefit from the period of respite.
For carers providing care for a person with high dependency care needs, a respite care package must be found that is appropriate, safe and secure enabling them to have a relaxed break or a holiday. Able Community Care recognises that for a family carer to have a week away, they needed to know that their loved one is safe and cared for.
For the cared for, there are choices. A respite care package can be arranged with a local care home, or a Live-in Care Service in the comfort and familiar surroundings of your own home can be arranged by Able Community Care.
Respite care is also provided when the carer themselves through illness or hospitalization is unable to care for a short period of time and respite care from a Live-in Carer gives them time to get better and to regain the strength they need to come back to their caring role.
Live-in Care Workers from Able Community Care will carry out the domestic work in the home, assist with personal care and provide companionship when you are away, all tailored to the needs of each individual and their home, a truly personal service.
Able Community Care has been providing respite care to families and their loved ones since 1980 and we provide many families with respite care on a regular basis throughout the year.
Respite care packages are available throughout England, Scotland, Wales and The Channel Islands.
All our live-in care workers have at least one year’s professional care experience and have an enhanced police check, which are updated every three years. Many of our Live-in Carers have been with Able Community Care for in excess of 10 years.
We are able to offer our Live-in Care Service on a planned respite basis for short periods of from no less than 7 days to no more than 3 months.
Our Respite Care Service provides the same quality of care as our long term Live-in Care Service.
