Able Community Care was founded in 1980 by Angela Gifford to provide an alternative for people who wished to remain in their own homes at a time in their lives when they could no longer safely care for themselves. Since that time the company has provided long term, live-in carer schemes for thousands of people throughout the UK.

Angela Gifford still owns and manages Able Community Care and the company is registered with the Care Quality Commission (formerly CSCI) and the Scottish Care Commission.

The company's live-in carer service enables a person to have help with their personal care requirements, their domestic needs and the opportunity to have companionship. There is also the safety factor of having another person in the home.

The company operates a rotational system of live-in carers, with the objective that every individual client finds two or three carers that they prefer, who return on a fortnightly, rotational basis.

Able Community Care provides care to people from late teens to over one hundred years of age. Many of our clients have received a continuous service from us for over ten years.

Able Community Care is based in Norwich but its staff travels thousands of miles a year visiting potential and existing clients and interviewing carers.

All carers are personally interviewed, two references written for and telephone verified. All carers have a CRB (Enhanced Disclosure). A large number of carers have NVQ 2 and above and as with our clients, many of our carers have been with us for over ten years.

The company has a Development Manager, Mandy Gülatar, who covers the South West and Wales. She is available to answer any questions you may have and you can contact her on 01503 230436 (Monday-Friday 9.00am-4.00pm).

We also have a Development Manager, Chris Cook, who is responsible for the South and South East and he can be contacted on 02392 838708.

If you would like a current brochure please call either of the above numbers, our office 01603 764567 or click here and submit your request online.
